Six treatments for oily skin

Oily skin happens when too much sebum is made by the sebaceous glands in the skin. Sebum is the oily, waxy substance that protects and moisturizes the skin.

Sebum is vital to maintaining healthy skin. Nevertheless, oily skin, clogged pores, and acne can contribute to too much sebum. Oily skin management often requires a person making a habit of regular skincare.

Signs

Oily skin affects the face often. The oily skin signs include:

A polished or greasy look

Quite broad or visible skin pores

Skin that seems thick or rough

Uncommon or persistent pimples

Plugged pores and blackheads

Individuals with oily skin can find it difficult to find makeup to match their skin, as the makeup may mix with the sebum, making it a different consistency.

Oily skin signs and severity vary from person to person. Genetics may play a role in the oily nature of the body.Changes in hormones or high levels of stress can also increase the body's production of oily sebum.

Treatment

Here, if they have problems, we include six ways in which a person can reduce oily skin symptoms.

1. Wash daily

Washing can reduce the amount of oil on the skin regularly. For oily skin washing, the following methods are recommended:

Wash with warm water and soft soap.

Avoid fragrant soaps, added moisturizers, or harsh chemicals that can irritate or dry the skin, creating more sebum to respond.

Remove loofahs and rough washcloths, as additional pressure will cause the skin to produce more oil.

If this does not work, some medicated products for acne care may help. These products contain acids capable of dealing with oily skin, such as:

salicylic acid

glycolic acid

beta-hydroxy acid

benzoyl peroxide

It may work well for some people to choose the right facial cleansers. The trick can be done for many people who simply have oily skin and not disgusting acne, fragrance-free glycerin soap and hot water.

We have a range of facial cleansers is available in our Spa.

2. Apply a toner

Astringent alcohol-containing toners tend to dry out the body. Nevertheless, organic astringents, such as witch hazel, may have skin-calming effects, according to a 2014 report Trusted Source. Witch hazel has a high content of tannins that makes it an astringent and anti-inflammatory product. As their only toner, most people with oily skin use witch hazel.

Natural astringent toners may make enlarged pores appear smaller in some people and eliminate small bits of material or make-up that might block pores.

These products might not work for everyone, though. Some may find that when using astringent toners, their faces tingle or itch. If this occurs, it may be a sign of irritation that may contribute to more development of sebum.

People should check every new toner to avoid potential discomfort on a small patch of skin.

3. Pat the face dry

Upon washing and using toner, people should pat their skin gently dry with a soft towel when drying their face.

Nonetheless, this should be done carefully. It is not advised to pull down the skin with a towel or to use a rough washcloth, as it may cause the skin to produce more sebum.

4. Use blotting papers and medicated pads

Some firms produce blotting papers that are specially designed to draw oil out of the body.

The sebum development in the skin will not be handled by blotting papers, but they can be used to take excess oil off the skin all day long to make it look less shiny.

An individual may also try cloth pads with common cleaning ingredients, such as salicylic acid or glycolic acid, that are medicated. These can help remove excess oil throughout the day as the pores and skin are washed.

5. Use a facial mask

Many facial masks may be useful for oily skin care. These may contain the following ingredients:

Clay, that's it. Masks containing minerals such as smectite or bentonite can absorb oils without itching the skin and reduce skin shininess and sebum levels. Only sometimes use them to keep the skin from drying out and then apply a gentle moisturizer.

Honey, A 2011 research Trusted Source notes the antibacterial and antiseptic properties of organic raw honey. A 10-minute honey face mask, while keeping the skin smooth, will reduce acne and oily skin.

Oatmeal. As suggested in a 2014 study, masks containing colloidal oatmeal may help cleanse the skin. Oats contain saponins, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds that can soothe irritated skin.

6. Use moisturizers

While for fear that their skin will appear greasier, most people with oily skin steer clear of moisturizers, using the right moisturizers can help this type of skin.

An oil-free moisturizer will help keep the skin moist and healthy for people with very oily skin without feeling greasy.

Many aloe vera compounds can naturally have a soothing effect on the body. The study noted that to be an active moisturizer, a product should have at least 10 per cent aloe in it.

Some people choose to use pure aloe gel for moisturization, but they need to be aware of hidden ingredients, especially denatured alcohol, that may dry and irritate the skin.

Prevention

Oily skin associated with genes can be hard to avoid. It is difficult to control even oily skin caused by changes in hormones.
